Description
The Chantry, formerly known as The Rectory, is a house that dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and features Collyweston stone slate roofs along with lateral stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with the main block designed in two stages, highlighted by a two-span roof that has a mansard section in the center and a hipped section to the right.
The central entrance is a round-headed doorway with a fanlight, flanked by 12-pane sash windows that include side-lights. On the first floor, there are 16-pane sash windows. A dormer is present in the mansard roof. To the left side, there is a two-storey lean-to addition, which features a full-length sash window on the ground floor and a 3-light casement window above, both set beneath timber lintels. The rear of the building has a two-storey, three-window range, which includes a 19th-century gabled and buttressed porch at the angle, complete with an arched entrance.
