Description

Linden Cottage is a cottage dated 1765, as shown by a plaque on the rear. It is built of coursed squared stone with a Collyweston stone slate roof. The roof has a coped gable on the west side, a brick ridge, and brick end stacks. The cottage is a single storey, with a slightly higher windowless bay to the east. It has three windows with timber lintels, including a 19th-century three-light casement window that retains hooks for shutters. A timber lintel also covers a blocked former entrance. A 20th-century extension provides the current entrance to the rear. Until 1956, the building was known as the Engine Inn.
