Description

No. 6 on Back Lane is a house dating from the 17th to 18th century, with an extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone, featuring quoins and stone dressings, topped with a Collyweston slate roof that has a brick central ridge and end and rear stacks. The building is 1½ storeys high and includes three 2-light dormers above four 3-light horizontal sliding sash windows, a 2-light casement, and a central 4-panelled door with an overlight. Inside, there are beams, an inglenook fireplace, and a pair of shouldered upper cruck blades with a saddle. This building was formerly known as the Durham Ox Public House.
