Description

Hemgate House is a house dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed of squared rubble and features a Collyweston stone slate roof, with coped gables and a stone stack at the west end, which has been heightened in brick. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. There are three-light casement windows under timber lintels, and French windows on the ground floor to the right. Two gabled dormers are present, along with a six-panel door located in a 19th-century porch to the west of the centre. A blocked doorway with a tiny window inserted to the northeast of the centre suggests that the house may have originally been two cottages. There is a lower 20th-century extension to the west.
