Description
Hall Cottage and Tickencote Hall is a house and cottage built in one range, which once served as stables for Tickencote Hall, constructed in 1705 and demolished in 1949. The building likely incorporates an earlier hall from the 16th or 17th century. A rainwater head on the property is dated 1705. It is made of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped roof covered in Collyweston stone slate. The building has stone ridge stacks with twin shafts and is arranged in an L-plan, with two low ranges at the rear. The main part consists of two storeys.
The north front, which serves as the entrance, has an archway leading into a through passage. To the east, there is a cottage with two bays and an entrance at the east end, while to the west, there is a house with three bays, featuring a door at the first-floor level accessed by steps flanking a projecting wing with a coped gable that is one bay deep. The windows are three-light casements with ovolo mullions and hood moulds.
