Description

No. 1 High Street is a house dated 1803, constructed of thinly coursed rubble with limestone dressings, featuring angle quoins and a stone tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with the left-hand bay being a slightly later addition and slightly recessed. This bay includes a moulded string course and large three-light casement windows with thin glazing bars and stone heads. The other three bays have similar windows but with flat timber lintels. The central door is topped with a slight stone hood and a moulded lintel, with a datestone above that displays the initials H over L.E. Above this central bay is a small, vestigial pediment. The house also has brick axial stacks.
