Description
Norman Cottage is a house that dates back to 1683 and may have originally been two separate dwellings from the late 17th century to early 18th century, which were later joined together. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a modern tiled roof. The section with the date has a gable facing the street and is two storeys high, with a two-unit plan. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, one of which is above a datestone with the initials J.B. The first floor has a long narrow window and a 2-light casement window. There are stone gable end stacks.
A lower single cell connects this part of the house to a right-angled wing that is 1½ storeys tall, also with a two-unit plan. This wing has a door in the angle, a stack above it, a blocked window next to it, and a 2-light casement window with a chamfered timber lintel. Above this wing, there is a single gabled dormer. The building has two brick stacks, one located on the right-hand gable end.
