Description

A range of cottages located on Back Lane in South Luffenham, dated 1582, with subsequent work in the 17th and 18th centuries. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble stone with roofs of Collyweston slate. They feature a moulded stone ridge and eight brick and stone stacks. The building follows an L-shaped plan, with a wing projecting forward on the right-hand side. The upper floors have 1, 2, and 3-light casement windows, one of which has a stone mullion. There are six doors, some with glazed panels, and an open alleyway doorway. All windows have wooden lintels. A lean-to addition is located on the front of the central-right area of the building, while a 20th-century 2-storey extension extends from the left end and a 20th-century 1-storey extension is attached to the front of the projecting wing. A stone tablet inscribed "B.B. 1582" is positioned centrally on the left-hand side.
