Description
The boundary wall and gates to Norris Homes were built between 1892 and 1893 by architect Watson Fothergill and were restored in 1991. Constructed from rockfaced Bulwell stone with sandstone ashlar dressings, the wall extends across the front of the almshouses, featuring a rounded corner and continuing along the right side facing Sherwood Rise. It has a stepped chamfered plinth and square piers topped with gabled caps, along with moulded coping. The original iron railings have been removed. There are three pairs of larger square gate piers set diagonally, each with double-domed caps, but the gates themselves have also been removed. This structure is included for its group value.
