Description
The Cattle Market gate and gate piers in Nottingham were built in 1886 by Charles Smith & Sons of Birmingham. They are made of cast and wrought iron. The structure features four square, panelled piers with moulded capitals and bases. The front panel displays the City coat of arms, and the piers are topped with cross-gabled caps that have bulls' heads positioned below the gables. Between the central piers, there is a short railing, and on each side, a pair of ornate wrought-iron gates. Additionally, there are single smaller, simpler piers that connect to the main piers with a short railing, along with single wrought-iron side gates.
