Description
The Nottingham City Contract Works, formerly known as the Eastcroft Depot Offices, is a building dating from around 1880 that has been altered in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs, along with four brick stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics.
The main north front has 11 windows arranged in a pattern of 2;2;1;2;2;2. The off-centre entrance includes a projecting porch with two shouldered ashlar archways and a pierced parapet above. Above the entrance, there is a plain sash window, followed by a small lancet window at the base of a square tower. This tower has an octagonal stage featuring two tall blind panels on each face, supported by ashlar corbels, which leads to an octagonal tile-hung clock stage that displays a clock on its four main faces. At the top, there is a short octagonal spire with dormers.
To the right of the entrance, there are two pairs of plain sash windows, followed by a single sash window and a door with an overlight. Above this section, there are three pairs of plain sashes with lower panels, and above again, two raking dormers. To the left, there is a two-storey gabled wing with a pair of plain sashes, and above it, two further sashes with a decorated relieving arch. Beyond this, there is a set-back wing that features a two-storey canted bay window, each with four sashes.
The west front includes another two-storey canted bay window with four sashes, a door with an overlight, and a square bay window above with a pair of sashes. Beyond this, there are three pairs of plain sashes, and above, three single sashes.
