Description

The Sikh Temple, originally built as a church school in 1841, is located on Church Street in Lenton, Nottingham. It is attributed to the architect HI Stevens and has undergone alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring painted ashlar dressings and a patterned tile roof, and is designed in the Tudor Revival style.

Architectural details include a plinth, moulded eaves, coped gables with kneelers and finials. The structure has a cruciform plan and consists of one and two storeys with an eight-window range. Most windows are casements with stone mullions, transoms, and surrounds.

The central projection, which is two storeys high, features a gabled porch with a pointed arched board door, flanked by single mullioned windows. Above the porch is a large datestone inscribed with the year 1841. The returns of the projection have gables that project outward, each with a single ground floor window; the left window has been altered, while above it is a mullioned window. Beyond this, there is a window followed by a door, with the door on the right being blocked.

On the main block, there are four cross mullioned windows to the left, and to the right, there are three similar windows followed by a single-storey projecting wing with two windows. The front gable of the building features two cross mullioned windows separated by a buttress.
