Description

Trafalgar House is an early 19th-century house, with an addition from the mid-20th century, situated on the south side of Sherwin Road in Lenton, Nottingham. The building is constructed of stucco with ashlar dressings, and has a hipped slate roof punctuated by two brick ridge stacks. It has a plinth and deep eaves, and presents a two-storey, three-window front, with an L-shaped layout. The windows are largely original, being 2-light casements with pointed arched Gothic lights within chamfered surrounds. The front garden façade features a central two-storey bow window with a lower glazing bar French window and a 2-light casement above. Similar 2-light casements are found on each floor to either side of the bow window, and on the left return. The rear courtyard, which has a two-by-two window arrangement in an L-plan layout, features tent-roofed verandahs with felt coverings and cast-iron columns. Beneath the verandahs, a square projection has a 4-light window, and to its right is a renewed door and a single-light window. The interior contains a stair hall with an original wooden dogleg staircase.
