II Businessman's club, now restaurant. 1875-77, with later additions. Designed by Joseph Goddard. Red brick with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roofs. Basement, two storeys and attic.
Deep plinth, moulded ground and first floor bands, deep bracketed eaves band. Welford Place front has single window to left with a large five window curved section to right. To left moulded ashlar door surround with four-light ashlar overlight. To right five plate glass sash windows with plain lower sash, two-pane upper sash and three-pane overlight, all with moulded ashlar lintels with curved corners and decorative roundels above. Above six similar windows with segment heads, hood moulds and central bosses. Above again attic to curved section has five linked dormer windows with sashes and tall pointed gables.
Pocklington's Walk front has single window to left, curved three window centre and projecting two window square bay to right. Left and central sections have similar fenestration to Welford front. Right bay has two plain sashes to each floor.
INTERIOR has large entrance hall with wood block floor, Victorian marble fireplace and three flight staircase with turned balusters and square newels with ball finials. Bar, billiard room and dining room all retain original doors, doorcases, coving and deep skirting boards.
