Description

The bridge over the River Soar, located on Upperton Road, dates from 1890. It is a braced arched iron bridge featuring two wide and low segmental iron arches with a roadway in between. The bridge has an ornate cast-iron railed parapet and brick abutments, which are complemented by brick piers topped with stone octagonal turrets that have moulded caps and large stone finials. This bridge is part of a series that includes the Bridge over River Soar, The Newarke Bridge over River Soar, Mill Lane West Bridge, and West Bridge Street.
