Description

The monument to Edward Holdsworth is located at the east end of the garden at Belgrave Hall. It was originally erected in 1764 at Gopsall Hall and features a statue of Religion carved by Roubiliac in 1761. The monument consists of a stone square pedestal with a cornice and fluted frieze, panelled sides adorned with inscriptions and relief carvings, and a large urn on top. The statue of Religion, which was originally part of the monument, is now situated immediately south of the house in the garden. This monument is part of a group that includes St Peter's Church, Belgrave Hall, garden walls, stables, the gateway and railings to Belgrave Gardens, and Belgrave House, all located on Church Road, along with Cross Corners in Thurcaston Road.
