Description

This property comprises three houses located at 47, 49, and 51 Tithe Barn Street, Horbury. The left-hand house dates from the late 18th century, while the others are later or rebuilt. The houses are constructed of brick with stone slate roofs, forming an L-shaped range. The front elevation, facing Tithe Barn Street, presents a near-symmetrical facade of one, two, and one bays, with the end bays projecting and gabled. Each house has a six-panel door. Most windows are four-pane sashes, originally set within stone surrounds and sills, which are now mostly rendered. The right-hand gable features flat arches over the windows and a three-course brick band above each floor; the ground-floor window has been enlarged. The rear of the building is rendered. The north-facing return has four bays, four-pane sashes (with the windows in the second bay being blind), and a segmental-headed carriage entrance at the far right. A brick band continues above the ground-floor windows on this return. The left-hand return is constructed of stone and is plain. The interior has not been inspected. The houses demonstrate group value in their cohesive streetscape.
