Description
No 25 on New Street is a house that was originally a weaving shed. It dates from the early 19th century and was converted in the mid-19th century, with restoration work done in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared stone and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical five-bay facade. The central doorway features pilaster jambs, and on either side, there are large canted bays with substantial monolithic raised jambs. The windows on the ground floor are from the 20th century, while the first floor has 12-pane sash windows, with the central window having panelled jambs set within a plain surround. A fascia with applied brackets supports the gutter, and there are four stone stacks. At the rear, the building has nine bays, two doorways, and a tripartite window on the ground floor, with the windows primarily being sashes, though some are blind. There is also a first-floor taking-in door that has been converted into a window. The interior has not been inspected.
