Description
The Yew Tree Public House, formerly known as Yew Tree Cottage, is located on Newall Carr Road and dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Originally, it was an attractive block of buildings, but it has been partly demolished and significantly altered.
The left-hand section is entirely modern, featuring one storey constructed of stone with stone-coped gables and kneelers, along with one two-light and one four-light window with mullions. The middle section, dating from the 18th century, is two storeys high and built of millstone grit. It includes a circular window above a modern door and a canted bay window that is also two storeys high, featuring three lights with stone architraves and later glazing bars. The right-hand section, which is from the later 18th century, is lower and has one-over-two windows with stone architraves. There is also a modern extension at the rear, and the barn that was once part of the property has been demolished.
