Description
No. 8 Park Place is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built between 1785 and 1794 by William Hargrave and features late 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and is five windows wide. The central door has been changed into a window and is framed by a moulded architrave with a flat hood supported by consoles. The windows are fitted with plate-glass sashes and have painted flat arches, with a sill band at the first floor. The heads of the second-floor windows are raised to the eaves, and there is a modillion eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected. William Hargrave was responsible for building at least 14 houses in Park Place as part of the development of the Wilson estate, which provided homes and workshops for gentleman merchants relocating from the medieval centre of Leeds.
