Description
64 Cardigan Lane is a house that was formerly used as a chapel. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble and features an M-shaped slate roof that is hipped towards the road. It has two storeys and four windows on the south front. The entrance, located on the left, has a Classical surround with fluted three-quarter columns, a large open segmental pediment, and a semicircular fanlight with glazing bars, which is obscured by climbing plants. The entrance has a panelled door. The windows on the ground floor are 20th-century casements, and the surrounds are obscured. There are end stacks on the roof. On the left side of the building, there is a doorway on the right and three sashes with glazing bars in flush wood surrounds on the first floor. The right side features a semicircular bay on the right with a three-light sash window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building was used as a Methodist chapel before the late 19th century.
