Description

Basin Lock, located to the west of Bridge 226 on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was built between 1770 and 1777 and has undergone gate restoration. The lock features retaining walls made of millstone grit and includes wood and iron gates. It has double gates and a walkway across the western pair, as well as a boxed paddle mechanism.
