Description
Gate piers and boundary wall to Gledhow Manor were built in 1903 by FW Bedford and SD Kitson for Major Bagnal, the proprietor of Kirkstall Forge. The structure is made of ashlar and coursed squared gritstone. There are inner and outer pairs of piers at the west end, and the wall is approximately 80 meters long, extending to the former Hawkhills Lodge. The piers are about 2 meters high, with a square section, a plinth, two bands, a cornice, and a rounded shallow pyramidal capstone. The wall is slightly lower than the piers and features flat copings. This structure is included for its group value.
