Description
This is a row of six irregularly grouped cottages, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with one of the cottages now serving as Fulneck Museum. The buildings are constructed from hammer-dressed stone, with some parts rendered, and feature stone slate roofs. The cottages are two storeys tall, except for No. 55, which is a single storey with a basement and consists of two bays.
Starting from the left, No. 57 is taller than the others and has a doorway with monolithic jambs to the left of a two-light flat-faced mullioned window, which is mirrored above. The gables have end stacks, with the right one being made of brick. No. 55, the museum, has a doorway that is accessed by a short flight of stone steps, accompanied by cast-iron railings. It features flanking three-light flat-faced mullioned windows, with a wider central light. At the junction with No. 53, there is a ridge stack. No. 53 has a doorway with monolithic jambs, a single sash window to the left, and a two-light flat-faced mullioned window to the right, with a similar window above. Nos. 47 to 51 are rendered and have glazed doors along with two-light wooden flush wood-framed sashes that contain 12-pane glazing. This range has three low ridge stacks.
These cottages are part of the Moravian settlement of Fulneck.
