Description
The T-Pond, located at the junction of walks approximately 350 metres south west of Bramham Park House, is a formal water feature likely created around 1728, possibly by John Wood of Bath. It features a magnesian limestone surround that forms the cross of the T, with an earthen bank supporting the stem. The long stem or canal extends from the South Terrace of the park, connecting to a rectangular pond that is off-centre and angled at about 60 degrees. This pond is an essential part of the formal gardens designed in the French style of Louis XIV and André Le Nôtre. The stem aligns with one of the straight avenues in the garden, with its northern end framing a view of the house. The southern end of the pond lies within the Parish of Barwick in Elmet.
