Description
Dale Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1771, constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a low-pitched stone slate roof featuring gable ends. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a rear outshut. It is characterized by quoins and a central entrance that has quoined jambs and a large lintel, which is topped with a datestone inscribed with 'JR 1771'. On both floors, there are flanking two-light flat-faced mullion windows with glazing-bar sashes and plain sawn stone surrounds, complete with external shutter hinge pins. The centre of the first floor features a single-light sash window. There are later brick chimney stacks located over the gable ends.
On the left return, the added rear outshut includes a plain surround to a framed plank door on the right and a mullioned window with two unequal lights. Above the doorway, there is a loft door leading to an upper room (bothey) over the kitchen, although there is no existing internal access to this space. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the farm is said to have been part of the Cardigan estate before it became the property of the owner of the nearby Booth's Mill, which has since been demolished.
