Description
The building is a warehouse located to the south-east of Highbury Works, originally constructed around 1840 and later altered. It was built for James Martin and has served as both a paper mill warehouse and a tannery warehouse, though it is currently vacant. The structure is made of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate hipped roof that includes three circular and one square metal ventilators.
It is two stories tall, with the south front displaying two large casement windows and a door on the left. Above the door, there is an off-centre loft doorway accessed by a wooden external stair, accompanied by a single boarded window to the left and two 2-light casements to the right. An iron hoist is positioned to the right of the door. The west front has a single boarded window on each floor, while the east front features a large cart entrance that has been filled with double half-glazed doors and flanking windows, above which is a 2-light Yorkshire sliding sash window. The rear north front includes an external brick stack. The interior has not been inspected. This warehouse was built as part of the Wood Mills paper mill and later adapted for use as part of Meanwood Tannery, now known as Highbury Works.
