Description
The Whiteley Memorial, located approximately 10 metres west of the Church of St Mark, is a memorial built around 1879. It is constructed from ashlar and carved stone in the Gothic Revival style. The memorial features a stepped base and a square plinth with an inscription on the east side. This is topped by an octagonal pillar that has a niche finial, which is enclosed in a square framework with traceries, quatrefoil columns, and Gothic arches. The inscription commemorates Thomas Whiteley, who died at Bagbie Lodge in Leeds in 1879, as well as his wife.
