Description
Field End is a former pair of houses built in 1799, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with quoins. The building features a stone slate roof supported by stone brackets at the gutter and has two gable stacks. It stands three storeys tall, with two central doors located in a recent porch, and one 4-light stone mullioned window on each side. The first and second floors mirror each other, each having two 2-light windows per dwelling with continuous sills. It is possible that these windows were originally part of a continuous 14-light stone mullioned window. The window surrounds and mullions have been rendered. A central oval plaque indicates that the houses were built by Joseph and Hannah Lockwood in 1799. There is a cottage to the right and a barn to the left of the main building, neither of which is of interest.
