Description
This terrace of buildings, comprising numbers 121, 123, and 123A Woodhead Road, along with numbers 2, 4, 6, and 8 Old Road, dates from the early to mid-19th century. Constructed from hammer-dressed stone, the roof is covered with stone slate. The building is three storeys high with a basement, however the ground and first floors of the north-west elevation are below street level. Number 121, on the left-hand side, projects forward and features a second-floor entrance, along with three-light windows with glazing bars. The remainder of the terrace has three and four-light windows to the first and second floors, with single-light windows to the right-hand end; some alterations to the windows have occurred. An arched stone bridge with concrete steps provides second-floor access to number 123; a blocked doorway stands adjacent. Access to number 123A is at first-floor level. The south-east elevation is three storeys and basement high, with a central two-bay section containing entrances to the left and right, and two three-light windows to the ground and first floors. The second floor has two six-light windows. The end dwellings have single-light windows. A single three-light window and a partially blocked loading door are visible at second-floor level on the right-hand end. The group value of these buildings lies in their contribution to the architectural character of the area.
