Description

The Park Gates and Lodges to Fixby Park date from the late 18th century and are constructed of ashlar. The pair of one-storey, one-bay lodges are linked by blind walls to a semi-circular archway. The archway features rusticated jambs and voissoirs, along with moulded impost bands that extend across the side walls. A moulded cornice sits above, and a parapet is topped with two flanking ties. The iron gates have spear finials and an anthemion in the centre. The side walls feature blind panels within triple keystones. The lodges have horizontal rustication with round-arched panels framing a single sash window, set within plain raised surrounds. They also feature pilaster quoins and triangular pediments. The rear of the lodges is built with hammer-dressed stone, and they have pitched stone slate roofs, ashlar quoins, tall stacks, and sash windows.
