Description
The Methodist Church, formerly known as Netherthong Methodist Free Church, was built in 1872. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with rusticated ashlar quoins and features a slate roof with gable copings supported by modillion brackets. The church is two storeys high and has a three-bay gable front leading to a four-bay hall. The central door is framed by an architrave surround and a segmental arched fanlight, with console brackets supporting a small canopy. On either side of the door are slender round-arched lights with keystones and moulded imposts, featuring marginal glazing. Above the doorway, there is a triple group of round-headed lights with an overarch inscribed with the words "METHODIST FREE CHURCH 1872." The side elevations have four round-arched windows on the first floor and four segmental-arched windows on the ground floor, all fitted with glazing bars. The church is prominently located in the village center.
