Description
No 8 Giles Street is a detached house that was originally part of a pair, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof, with one ashlar stack and one brick stack. It stands three storeys tall.
The near central doorway is flanked by a three-light stone mullioned window to the left and a large modern bow window, which likely replaced a former entrance and a three-light window. On the first and second floors, there are probable former ten-light stone mullioned windows that spanned the entire facade; however, the central portions have been blocked, resulting in two three-light windows on each floor.
At the rear, the ground floor is back to earth, while the first floor has a large mono-pitched extension to the right, with a three-light stone mullioned window to the left. The second floor features a former ten-light stone mullioned window, of which five lights have been blocked, leaving one three-light window and one two-light window.
