Description
1-5 Parkwood Road is a group of three dwellings built in the late 18th century, with No. 1 dating from the early to mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature pronounced quoins. They have a pitched stone slate roof with gable copings on carved footstones and are two storeys high.
On the south end elevation, the ground floor has two central doorways with stone surrounds, flanked by two 4-light stone mullioned windows, each with two mullions removed, and one 2-light stone mullioned window with the mullion removed. The first floor has two 6-light stone mullioned windows, each with three mullions removed, and there is a continuous pronounced string course running along the building. The southwest gable features one 2-light stone mullioned window at first floor level.
No. 1 includes a two-storey extension to the main block, topped with a catslide roof. The northwest elevation has a modern porch at ground floor, alongside two 2-light stone mullioned windows, each with one mullion removed. The first floor has three 2-light stone mullioned windows, also with one mullion removed.
On the southwest elevation, there is an entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones at ground floor, and one blocked 2-light stone mullioned window with the mullion removed at first floor. The northeast gable features two windows in stone surrounds at ground floor and one window at first floor, with an attic that includes one 2-light stone mullioned window.
