Description

Scarwood Bridge, built between 1794 and 1798, is located on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and is attributed to engineer Benjamin Outram. This single span arched bridge is constructed from hammer dressed stone and features a string course at the base of the parapet. The rounded copings add to its design. The underside of the bridge's towpath shows deep scoring from tow-ropes, and there is a narrow setted path on top, which includes steps.
