Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a large farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from deeply coursed hammer-dressed stone and features a gabled stone slate roof with chamfered copings and large finials. The building has two storeys and attics, with a continuous drip mould over the openings on the ground and first floors. Its square plan includes two gables on each elevation.

The symmetrical facade has a central doorway with a moulded surround, classical imposts, and a square-headed lintel with a moulded arched panel. On either side of the doorway, there is an 8-light window with a King mullion on the ground floor and a 6-light window above, both of which are double chamfered. Each gable has a blind 2-light window with a drip mould. To the far right on the ground floor, there is a doorway that has been enlarged from a former 2-light window.

The left elevation features a projecting chimney breast, a tall cross window for the stairs, and 5 and 3-light windows. The right elevation includes a Tudor arched doorway along with 4 and 3-light windows. A small 18th-century addition is present at the rear. Some detailing has been repaired with mortar, and there is some oak panelling inside. This farmhouse is considered a good example of its type.
