Description
Nos 31 and 33 on Church Street in Honley are part of a row of buildings, with No 31 dating back to 1789, as indicated by a datestone. The structure of No 31 features hammer dressed stone, while No 33 is rendered. Both buildings have a stone slate roof and are two storeys tall. The north-east side has a moulded eaves cornice and a string course between the floors. There are two central doorways, with a later doorway to the left that has been blocked. No 31 has large shop windows with a central mullion, while No 33 has one 4-light stone mullioned window. On the first floor, each dwelling has one 4-light stone mullioned window and one single light. The datestone features a fret pattern. On the south-west elevation (the rear), there are two central doors and two 2-light windows, with one 4-light stone mullioned window for each dwelling on the first floor. No 31 has been altered.
