Description
Fieldhead is a mid-19th century building located on Lidget Street in Lindley. It is constructed of ashlar and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable. The building has two storeys and is adorned with a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. On the first floor, there are three sash windows, while the ground floor has two canted bays, each with sashes and moulded cornices. The entrance door has one moulded panel and is set within a Tuscan porch that includes a full entablature and blocking course.
An extension on the south side of the building has a hipped stone slate roof and also consists of two storeys. It features a moulded eaves cornice, a blocking course, and a band, along with a continuous first-floor impost moulding. The south side has three segment-headed sashes, and there is a paired segment-headed sash with a colonnette on the first floor of the east side. Additionally, there is a tripartite sash on the ground floor, which has a moulded surround and consoles supporting a moulded cornice. Fieldhead was owned by J N Sykes, who was the patron and father-in-law of the Manchester architect Edgar Wood.
