Description
16A and 18 Swan Lane is a building dating from 1866, formerly known as Lockwood Town Hall. It is constructed of ashlar and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and is characterized by a moulded eaves cornice supported by stone brackets. There is a moulded cornice above the ground floor, along with a continuous moulded sill band and impost band on the first floor. The ground floor is rusticated, and there is a moulded plinth.
The façade includes six ranges of round-arched sash windows, with the first-floor windows having sunk panelled aprons, moulded voussoirs, and keystones. The central two bays project slightly and are topped with a pediment that has a cartouche inscribed "Town 1866 Hall" and sculpted foliage in the tympanum. The elevation facing North Street has two bays with similar detailing and features a one-storey rusticated extension with a moulded eaves cornice.
