Description
Home Farm Building No. 7 is a low L-shaped aisled barn that consists of two ranges. It was originally timber-framed and dates back to the early 16th century, but it was encased in stone in the early to mid 17th century. The barn features hammer-dressed stone and a stone slate roof. The main range runs east to west and has king post trusses spanning five and a half bays, while the eastern cross-wing contains two bays with an aisle to the east. The southern aisle was converted into a mistal when it was encased in stone and later transformed into a cattle shade in the 19th century, but it has now returned to its 17th-century use. The barn has a hipped roof.
