Description
The Tower of the Church of St. Peter, built around 1875, is the remaining structure of the original church that was destroyed by fire. The nave was replaced in the mid-20th century and is of little architectural interest. The tower is constructed of ashlar and consists of three stages, topped with an octagonal broach spire. It features set-back buttresses and lancet windows on the first stage, which also includes a west floor with a pointed arch and a hoodmould adorned with female head terminations holding shields, one of which displays a date. The second stage features a clock face, while the third stage has a belfry window with two-light plate tracery. Additional architectural details include a corbel table, a cornice with gargoyles, and lucarnes on the spire. The tower is a prominent feature in the landscape.
