Description

Hollas Bridge is a railway bridge built around 1840 by George Stephenson for the Manchester and Leeds Railway Company. It is constructed of rock-faced stone and ashlar. The bridge features a tall round arch with voussoirs that are aligned to the courses, and the imposts are returned inside a long tunnel. The arch is flanked by battered pilaster buttresses, and there is a band above that sweeps down as coping to the retaining wing walls. The parapet has a flat coping.
