Description

Woodhouse Bridge, dated 1830, spans the River Calder and features retaining walls on either side. The bridge has pitch-faced stone retaining walls with tapering buttresses flanking a single-span semi-circular arch. The arch is constructed with rusticated voussoirs and has a raised keystone. At the northern end, there is a land arch set between the buttresses. The parapet of the retaining walls is made of ashlar, while the surface over the bridge is tooled. The southernmost retaining wall connects to Woodhouse Mill Bridge.
