Description
The Church of St. Paul is a Commissioners Church built around 1832 by architects Pickersgill and Oakes. It features an ashlar exterior and a slate roof, consisting of a single vessel with five bays and a west tower. At the east end, there are two gabled porches, all designed in the lancet style. The church has deeply splayed pointed single lights with hoodmoulds and slim offset buttresses. The east window consists of three stepped lancets, while the gable ends are gableted. The embattled tower has four stages, with angle buttresses that end in pinnacles adorned with oversized crockets. The church stands out prominently in the landscape. The interior has been gutted and is now aisleless.
