Description

This barn, located 50 meters to the north-north-east of the Griffin Public House, dates from the 18th century and features a stone encasing of a 16th-century timber frame. The structure is built of thin coursed rubble with dressed quoins, and it has a stone slate roof that survives in part. The main interest of the barn lies in its preserved timber-framed interior, which consists of three bays that were originally double-aisled. It includes one complete king-post truss, which lacks queen struts, although mortices for them are present, along with two other trusses that are braced to the ridge, tie beam, and arcade plate.
