Description

Hawks Clough Bridge is a bridge, likely built in the late 18th century, that provides access over the River Calder to the Rochdale Canal, which was established around 1798 on the opposite bank. The bridge features hammer-dressed stone retaining walls and pitch-faced voussoirs forming a single span segmental arch. It has a dressed stone parapet with cappings that rise to stone piers, which slightly project only on the south bank.
