Description
The Sourhall is a public house, formerly known as the Dog and Partridge Inn. It is an early 18th century building that originally consisted of two cells, with early 19th century additions to both ends. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone, with watershot stone in the outer bays, and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a four-bay front. The first bay has quoins and a double chamfered mullioned window with two large lights, which is mirrored above. Quoins are also present at the junction of the next bay at first floor level. The second and third bays are symmetrical, with a single-storey gabled porch in between. On either side of the porch are double chamfered mullioned windows with two large lights, featuring flat-faced mullions on the ground floor and chamfered mullions on the first floor. Quoins are found at the junction of the third and fourth bays. The fourth bay has a double chamfered mullioned window with two wide lights, which is also mirrored above, and features quoins at the angle. The building has three stacks along the ridge.
