Description

This is a row of five cottages located on Bradford Road. They were originally built in the late 18th century and converted around 1820, with later alterations in the late 20th century. The cottages are constructed from sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings and have stone slate roofs, featuring three stone stacks. They are two storeys high. Numbers 237 and 239 were originally a double-fronted house, converted into two cottages. The upper floor of this section has been rebuilt, and it includes large, flush quoins. The front has two 20th-century doors flanked by 2-light windows, over which are two small central windows flanked by 2-light windows. Numbers 241 to 243 each have a single doorway with painted, flush ashlar surrounds. They also have single 2-light windows in matching surrounds, with similar windows above. Number 245 has a single-light window on each floor. A gable wall facing Green End features 2-light windows on each floor, both with painted, flush ashlar surrounds.
