Description
Old School Mews, built in 1814 by the Low Moor Iron Works Company, is a single-storey sandstone building designed as a simple hall school. It features a low-pitched gable end roof made of stone slate with coped ends. On each side, there are four tall pointed arched windows framed in ashlar. The lower south wing has three pointed arched windows. There are some small modern extensions that do not detract from the overall appearance of the building. On the south gable end, there is an oval ashlar plaque with a beautifully carved inscription that reads: "Erected by the Low Moor Company, Anno Domini 1814."
