Description
Nos 7 to 10 Chapel Fold, built around 1635, is an irregular group of two-storey gabled buildings. The central building, No 9, originally served as a chapel, while No 10 was the adjoining former vestry. The buildings are constructed from irregularly coursed gritstone and feature large quoins. They have stone slate roofs with saddlestones and prominently carved kneelers. In the early 19th century, the buildings were altered to serve as tenements. The windows have chamfered mullions and transoms, with configurations of 4, 5, or 6 lights, and drip moulds on the ground floor. The doorways are marked by massive lintels and chamfered edges. No 10 is set back from the others, and the interior has been altered.
